Could you imagine anyone other than Chris Hemsworth playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? It may surprise you to know that despite playing the iconic Loki, actor Tom Hiddelston was originally cast as this comic book hero instead of his brother.
Cillian Murphy was very nearly a caped crusader, and Sam Rockwell was almost a different member of the Iron Man franchise. Some stars passed on parts due to scheduling conflicts, but others like Jessica Chastain and Olivia Munn turned down parts for very specific reasons.
One opportunity for Joaquin Phoenix could have cost him one of his most iconic parts yet, while Jake Gyllenhaal took his time joining the Spider-Man franchise. James Franco was a part of Sony’s first set of Spider-Man movies but he may not be happy with the role he ended up in.
Josh Brolin, on the other hand, is definitely relieved that he didn’t get a major movie role because it allowed him to take others he felt better suited for. Jared Leto was once in line to play one of the good guys before getting hired to play the Joker. Although this part was less than successful, he’s going to have another chance to play a do-gooder.
