The Biggest Shark Ever Recorded Length
The Canadian Shark Research Centre has documented that David McKendrick caught the world’s largest shark (Great White) that measured approximately 20 feet long off the Canadian shores of Prince Edward Island in 1998.
If you think that’s big, there are unverified accounts that date back to the 1870s reporting Great White Sharks as large as 36 feet in length.
What about El Monstruo?
Straight from local legend, a huge great white shark that measured over 21 feet long and weighing 7,000 pounds was caught off the Cuban coast of Cojimar in 1945. After further inspection, it was shown that the shark was only around 16 feet and weight likely closer to 4200 pounds. Still big, but not the monster that everyone hoped for.
Make sure to remember to ‘look for fins’ before stepping into the ocean next time, there are always monster sharks in the water too!
